Women's Track And Field Competes At Hurricane Collegiate Invitational

CORAL GABLES, Fla. - The Southern Connecticut State University women's track track and field competed at the Hurricane Collegiate Invitational on the campus of University of Miami on Saturday, March 26, 2022. Southern mainly faced competition from Division I programs, and set three personal-best times.

Track Events
  • In the 200-meter dash, Ella Maclean (Hanover, N.H.) finished in 28th place with a time of 25.49. Dardielle Exantus (Stratford, Conn.) finished with a time of 26.30, while Mackenzie Glenn (North Branford, Conn.) finished with a personal-best time of 26.51. 
  • Rachel Dube (Windsor, Conn.) finished in 16th place with a time of 58.77 in the 400-meter dash, while Maclean finished with a time of 59.51. Da'nae Sherman (Danbury, Conn.) finished with a time of 1:01.09. 
  • In the 100-meter hurdles, Izzy Newbury (Moosup, Conn.) finished with a personal-best time of 14.83 and in 19th place. Newbury also finished in fourth place in the 400-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 1:03.35. 
  • The 4x100-meter relay team of Glenn, Exantus, Dube, and Maclean finished in sixth place with a time of 48.08. The time was the fastest by a Southern 4x100-meter relay team since having a time of 47.33 on May 11, 2019, during the New England Championships. 
  • The 4x400-meter relay team of Dube, Exantus, Newbury, and Sherman finished in seventh place with a time of 3:55.19. 

Field Events
  • Rachel Fleischer (Derby, Conn.) finished in fifth place in the triple jump with a leap of 11.85 meters. 
  • Glenn finished in 10th in the long jump with a leap of 5.34 meters.
