NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut softball team fell to Pace University, 2-0 and 10-0, at Pelz Field. With the losses, the Owls fell to 11-15 overall and 6-8 in Northeast 10 action, while the Setters improved to 15-8 overall and 5-5 in the NE10.
Game 1: Pace 2, Southern 0Â
- It was a pitching duel from the very beginning in game one of the doubleheader. Neither team could connect on the ball until the sixth inning when Pace's bats came alive.
- Carolina Itu gave the Setters their first baserunner after being hit by a pitch. Arianna Guarracino came in to pinch run for Itu, who advanced to second on a NancyAnn Revilla single to left field. A sacrifice bunt in the next at bat saw Guarracino score to take the goose egg off the board and Revilla advance to third on the play. Gwen Pederson stepped to the plate and tapped a single to right field that scored Revilla for Pace's second and final run of the inning. Â

Game 2: Pace 10, Southern 0
- Pace came out firing in game two, hopping on the board in the first inning. After Gwen Pederson doubled dow the left field line. A single from Alexandra Tejeda scored Pederson in the next at bat. Tejeda tagged up on a sacrifice fly to score their second run of the inning.
- The Setters exploded in the fourth inning scoring four runs on five hits to increase their lead to six.
- Another explosive inning for the Setters saw them pick up four more runs in the fifth inning to blank the Owls, 10-0.

- Jessica Perucki recorded her second double-digit strikeout game of the season with 10 in game one against Pace. Â
- Gabriella Festa notched her first collegiate double in game two.
