NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Southern Connecticut State University women's track and field team competed at the Mark Young Invitational on Yale's campus on Saturday, April 23, 2022. The Owls faced mainly Division I competition, which included student-athletes from Brown, Columbia, Fordham, St. John's, Stony Brook, and Yale.
Track Events
- In the 100-meter dash, Ella Maclean (Hanover, N.H.) finished in fifth place with a time of 12.18, the only freshman in the event in the top five. Dardielle Exantus (Stratford, Conn.) finished with a time of 12.32 and in ninth place and Mackenzie Glenn (North Branford, Conn.) rounded out the top 10 with a time of 12.51. Begotty Laroche (Manchester, Conn.) recorded a time of 12.63 and Olivia D'Haiti (Bridgeport, Conn.) recorded a time of 12.73.
- Maclean led Southern in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.44 and an eighth place finish, while Glenn finished in ninth place with a time of 25.48. D'Haiti finished with a time of 25.83, Exantus finished with a time of 26.09, Gillie Penna (North Branford, Conn.) finished with a time of 26.66, and Da'nae Sherman (Danbury, Conn.) finished with a time of 27.27.
- In the 400-meter dash, Dube finished in fifth place with a time of 57.50. Penna recorded a personal-best time of 1:00.22 and Sherman finished with a time of 1:01.31.
- Julia Mansfield (Wallingford, Conn.) recorded a time of 2:24.75 in the 800-meter run, while Vanessa Riccardi (Sherman, Conn.) recorded a persona-best time of 2:31.54.
- Kiley Rodriguez (Derby, Conn.) finished with a personal-best time of 5:01.45 in the 1500-meter run, while Briana Grecco (Thomaston, Conn.) finished with a time of 5:03.67.
- In the 110-meter hurdles, Izzy Newbury (Moosup, Conn.) finished in fifth place with a time of 14.76 and Kylie Neretich (Naugatuck, Conn.) finished in seventh place with a time of 15.68.
- Newbury also recorded a time of 1:04.33 in the 400-meter hurdles and in third place, while Nereitch finished with a time of 1:08.61.
- The 4x100-meter relay team of Glenn, Exantus, Dube, and Maclean finished in third place with a time of 48.58.
Field Events
- In the long jump, Kisha Francois (East Haven, Conn.) recorded a leap of 5.25 meters.
- Morgan Sartor (Portland, Conn.) finished with a mark of 38.91 meters in the hammer throw.
