NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut volleyball team was swept by Bentley University, 3-0, at Pelz Gymnasium to open Northeast 10 Conference play. With the loss, the Owls move to 8-6 on the season and 0-1 in NE10 play, while Bentley improved to 9-4 overall and 1-0 in the conference.

Match Leaders
Gabriela Gaibur (Monroe, N.Y.) led the attack for the Owls with nine kills and added 13 digs.
Aubrey Villena (San Diego, Calif.) recorded 14 digs and a service ace.
Lily Miller (Ottawa, Ill.) picked up 19 assists and 11 digs, while
Heliceliz Rivera (Corozal, Puerto Rico) notched three service aces, four kills, four assists, and a block.
How It Happened
- The first set had both teams jousting for the lead. At 14-14, Bentley stormed off with a 5-0 run to take its largest lead since the opening points. Southern attempted a comeback and came within three, but the Falcons continued to press and went on to win set one by five.
- It was all Bentley in the second set with an 11-4 lead to start. The Owls tried to claw their way back in, but the Falcons' offense remained hot and capped the set with an 8-1 lead to win by 12.
- The final set of the night had the Falcons jump out to a quick 6-2 lead. Both sides traded points after that, while the Owls managed to come within two of Bentley's lead. At 13-11, Bentley rattled off four-straight points that increased their lead to six. The Owls' offense managed to get within three of the Falcons' lead, but Bentley grabbed six of the last nine set points to complete the sweep.
