NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Southern Connecticut women's soccer tied No. 2 College of Saint Rose, 0-0, in a Northeast 10 Conference matchup at Jess Dow Field. With the tie, Southern goes to 4-2-1 overlal and remains undefeated in NE10 play at 2-0-1 while Saint Rose goes to 5-0-2 overall and 1-0-2 in NE10 action.

The Owls and Golden Knights have faced each other in the last two NE10 Conference Championships Games while who the Owls have faced in each of the last two Northeast 10 Conference Championship Games, while Southern was the only team to defeat the Golden Knights in the 2021 regular season.

The Owls jumped out of the gate early, creating several scoring opportunities in the first half while controlling play for most of the first frame. Though shots were even at 5-5 through the first 45 minutes of play, Southern had three corners to Saint Rose's zero. Down the stretch, those numbers changed drastically as the Golden Knights held an 11-2 advantage in shots and a 9-1 advantage in corners.

While the Owls' offense saw opportunities fall short, it was Southern's defense that was on display as Caileigh Driscoll, Britt Verstegen, Riley Ayer and Amanda Dustin stymied the Golden Knights' attack. Abby Allen was the star of the show, though, as she totaled nine saves in the game for her fifth shutout of the season, including seven in the second half.

Allen has been lights-out for the Owls as of late, posting four-straight shutouts while holding the opposition scoreless over the last 372:47 minutes in goal while stopping all 21 shots that she has seen in that span.
