SCSU Athletics To Host National Girls and Women In Sports Day On Saturday, Feb. 11

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Southern Connecticut State University Athletics has announced that the 2023 National Girls and Women in Sports Day will be held on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023 at James Moore Field House. Registration for the event will begin at 8:30 a.m. at James Moore Field House. Participants will then take part in a variety of sports at clinic stations from 9 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Each child in attendance will receive a free t-shirt and lunch. 
 
Following lunch, the participants will have an opportunity to meet with and receive autographs from all of the Southern Connecticut State University student-athletes in attendance. All participants are invited to attend that afternoon's Owls' basketball doubleheader against Adelphi. The women's basketball game begins at 1:30 p.m. while the men's basketball game will begin at 3:30 p.m. 
 
All participants must wear sneakers and athletic clothing and bring a water bottle. Registration is limited to the first 200 female participants in grades 1-8 that have submitted an online registration/assumption of risk form. Parents or guardians must remain in the facility and support their child for the duration of the event.

The Carolyn D. Vanacore Girls and Women In Sports Day Fund
The Carolyn D. Vanacore Girls and Women In Sports Day Fund was created by SCSU Athletics Hall of Famer and lifelong support Carolyn Vanacore with the goal of supporting the annual event. Support for the fund goes directly to supporting National Girls and Womens In Sports Day and other initiatives to support women's sports at Southern Connecticut.
