SCSU Men's Basketball Defeats Holy Family, 79-69

SCSU Men's Basketball hosted Holy Family University for a non-conference home game, winning the matchup, 79-69. This win extends the Owls win streak to 5 games and brings the Owls record to 8-2 on the season with a conference record of 3-2. 
 
Cherif Diarra led the Owls with a season-high 24 points to go along with 11 rebounds for his third double-double of the season. Marty Silvera totaled 11 points and 10 assists as well as seven rebounds while Kazell Stewart had 14 points, five rebounds and three blocks to go-along with his ESPN Top 10-worthy 360 dunk (see above) off a fast-break lob from Logan Bagshaw. Freshman Christian Joe had 10 points, five assists and five steals off the bench. 

The Owls jumped out to an early lead in the first half and would hold that lead through the entirety of the game with it growing to a high of 18 points down the stretch. The Tigers managed to cut down the Owls lead on multiple occasions, but the Owls defense held strong helping seal the victory with a team total of 10 steals and 6 blocks. Freshman Christian Joe claimed five of those steals for a season and career high.

The Owls will have a lengthy break over the holidays and will look to extend their win streak on Saturday December 30th at 1PM vs Molloy University in New Haven, CT.
