SCSU Men's Indoor Track & Field Wins Art Kadish Elm City Challenge

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut's men's indoor track & field won the 2023 Art Kadish Elm City Challenge, edging second-place New Haven, 163-128. Overall, the Owls accounted for seven event victories while Southern also posted 21 top-three finishes.

On the second day, Max Musial won the 400 Meters, Nolan Freeman captured the 200 Meters while Adelino Daveiga won the Weight Throw and Dylan Torok completed the two-day Heptathlon in first place.

HEPTATHLON
Dylan Torok won the two-day Heptathlon event with a final score of 4,572. Torok won Friday's Shot Put  (11.11m) and High Jump event (1.87m), finished second in the Pole Vault (4.20m), third in the 55 Meter Run (6.86) and Long Jump (6.08m) and fourth in the 1,000 Meter Run (2:59.46).

Peyton Adams finished third overall with 4,461 points, highlighted by a win in the 1,000 Meters (2:48.52) and a second place finish in the Long Jump (6.28m).

55 Meter Hurdles
Anthony Gaeta finished third overall in the first event of the day with a time of 8.31. Peyton Adams was tied for sixth at 8.89 followed by Dylan Torok at 8.94.

Pole Vault
Dylan Torok finished second with a height of 4.20m while Peyton Adams was fourth at 3.90m.

1000 Meters
Adams won the 1000 Meter Run with a time of 2:48.52, followed by Gaeta at 2:55.85. Torok was fourth at 2:59.46.

FIELD EVENTS
Weight Throw

Adeline Daveiga won the Weight Throw event with a distance of 18.29m. Natanael Barbosa Torres and Jordan Ribiero tied with a distance of 13.42m for fifth place while Leo Jolly grabbed the 10th spot with a distance of 12.28m.

TRACK EVENTS
400 Meters

Freshman Max Musial won the 25-runner 400 Meter Run with a time of 51.16. Ty Phelan finished third at 52.43 while Osaretin Osagie was fourth at 52.65. Freshman Connor Seabrooks finished 10th at 53.94.
200 Meters
Nolan Freeman took the 200 Meter Run with a meet record of 22.04 while Sam Sandler finished third at 22.55, just 0.02 behind the second-place finisher. Rocco Samoke was seventh at 23.47 while Eduardo Cuello Briones was ninth at 23.70.

The Owls will now head on Winter Break and return to action on Friday, Jan. 19 when it hosts the William Sutherland III Invitational at 11 a.m. at James Moore Field House.
