Southern Connecticut women's basketball will host Franklin Pierce for a Northeast 10 Conference matchup on Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 5:30 p.m. at James Moore Field House. The Owls, winners of five of their last six games, enter the game at 15-8 overall and 10-7 in the NE10 while Franklin Pierce is 8-16 overall and 4-13 in conference play.

SCSU Women's Basketball will Play4Kay in support of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund when the Owls host the Ravens on Wednesday, Feb. 15. The Mission of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund is to raise money for scientific research for the development of life-enhancing drugs and clinical studies; assist the underserved; and unify people for a common cause–the fight against all cancers that affect women. The Last Time They Met
The Owls and Ravens last played on Jan. 4, 2023, which saw Southern defeat Franklin Pierce, 68-41, in Rindge, N.H.  Zoe Amalbert (Nanuet, N.Y.), Delaney Connors (West Hartford, Conn.), and Isabella Santoro (Durham, Conn.) each recorded a double-double in the win.
  • Amalbert led the Owls with 23 points and 11 rebounds for her first double-double of the season and also notched four assists.
  • Connors accumulated 10 points and 10 rebounds for her first double-double of the season. Connors shot 5-of-6 from the free throw line to add to her two baskets from the field, including one three-pointer. 
  • Isabella Santoro scored 10 points and collected 12 rebounds, shooting 3-of-7 from the field and notching 4-of-8 free throws.
  • Additionally, Southern had its most rebounds in a game (55) since Dec. 19, 2018 where the Owls beat Concordia, 98-46. 
NE10 Tournament Outlook
The new-look NE10 tournament will feature all 13 teams. The top three teams in the conference standings will receive a first-round bye, No. 4 would host No. 13, No. 5 would host No. 12, No. 6 would host No. 11, No. 7 would host No. 10 and No. 8 would host No. 9. The NE10 First Round is slated for Friday, Feb. 24 with the Quarterfinals to be played Sunday, Feb. 26. The NE10 Quarterfinals will be played on Thursday, Mar. 2 and the Finals on Sunday, Mar. 5.
 
Owls Notes
  • Zoe Amalbert leads the Owls with 13.7 points, 4.9 assists and 1.6 steals per game, while also averaging 4.3 rebounds per contest.
  • Amalbert leads the NE10 in assists (113) and ranks 28th nationally, and also ranks first in assists per game (4.9), which ranks 22nd nationally.
  • Katie Williamson is averaging 11.8 points and a team-best 7.0 rebounds per game, while shooting 47.3% (125-264) from the floor. She also leads the Owls with 1.1 blocks per game.
  • She ranks second in the NE10 in field goal percentage and fourth in blocks (26) and blocks per game.
  • Isabella Santoro is averaging 10.7 points and 5.5 rebounds per game while also shooting 43.2% (19-44) from three-point range.
  • Delaney Connors averages 8.6 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game and ranks fourth in the conference in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.86). Her 78 assists for the year also rank ninth in the conference while her 3.5 assists per game ranks seventh.

  • Ines Gimenez Monserrat leads Franklin Pierce with 15.8 points per game while also averaging 5.1 rebounds and 2.8 assists per contest.
  • Kenzie Sirowich leads Franklin Pierce with 5.8 rebounds per game while also averaging 8.0 points per contest.
  • Sara Macary checks in with 10.4 points per game while Anna Badosa averages a team-high 3.3 assists per game, while also averaging 5.4 rebounds and 9.1 points. 
Up Next
Southern will play its final road game of the regular season when it travels to Springfield, Mass. to take on American International on Saturday, Feb. 18. The Owls will then host Assumption for Senior Night on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 5:30 p.m. at James Moore Field House.
