No. 7 Southern Connecticut will host No. 10 Adelphi for the first round of the 2023 NE10 Championship Tournament on Friday, Feb. 24 at 5 p.m. at James Moore Field House in New Haven, Conn. The Owls completed their NE10 slate with a record of 11-9 while Adelphi finished the year at 7-13 in conference play.

The Last Time They Met
Southern and Adelphi met twice this season with the Owls taking both contests. Southern defeated Adelphi, 80-66, in Garden City, N.Y. on Dec. 6 and then again at home, 67-54, on Feb. 11.
  • In the two games against the Panthers this season, Zoe Amalbert averaged 18.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game.
  • Amalbert was also 11-for-27 (40.7%) from the field and 6-for-14 (42.9%) from three-point range.
  • Isabella Santoro averaged 14 points and six rebounds against the Panthers this year while Katie Williamson checked in with 13.5 points and seven rebounds.
  • Delaney Connors scored at a 11.5 per game clip while also averaging seven assists and 5.5 rebounds per game.
  • Connors had her best game of the season at Adelphi on Dec. 6 when she scored a season-best 23 points with eight assists, six rebounds and two steals.
 
Southern Connecticut In The NE10 Tournament
  • Southern is 18-15 all-time in the NE10 Tournament.
  • The Owls have reached the Semifinals seven times, and the tournament finals three times, with a 2-1 record in NE10 Championship games.
  • Southern won the NE10 Tournament in 2005-06 and 2006-07 and finished as the runner-up in 2011-12.
Southern and Adelphi have met once before in the NE10 Tournament, with the Panthers taking a 69-52 decision in the 2017 NE10 Quarterfinals.

Owls Notes
  • Southern completed the regular season with an overall record of 17-10.
  • The Owls lost back-to-back games to end the regular season, after winning six of their previous seven games.
  • Southern enters the tournament ranked 13th nationally in scoring defense allowing 55.3 points per game.
  • The Owls also rank 21st nationally after holding teams to 35.5% shooting from the floor for the year.
  • Southern has won its last five games in which it has reached 60 points.
  • Zoe Amalbert leads the conference in total assists (123) and ranks second with 4.7 assists per game, trailing the conference leader at 4.8.
  • For the year, Amalbert averages 13.3 points, 4.7 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game with 1.5 steals per contest.
  • Amalbert has scored in double figures in 22 of the Owls' 27 games and has five 20-point games this season.
  • She also has 14 games with five-or-more assists, including a team-, season-high of eight against Le Moyne on Jan. 18.
  • Katie Williamson averages 11.7 points and a team-leading 6.9 rebounds per game with 1.1 blocks per contest.
  • Williamson's 14 rebounds against Caldwell were a season-best for Southern.
  • Williamson also totaled five steals against Assumption on Feb. 21, which was the most in a game this year on the Owls' roster.
  • Williamson also leads the Owls with five double-doubles.
  • Isabella Santoro checks in at 11.4 points per game with 5.8 rebounds, including 3.0 on the offensive end per game.
  • Santoro's 24 points against Franklin Pierce on Feb. 15 were a season-high for the Owls.
  • In her last four games, Santoro averaged 12.5 points and 8 rebounds per contest and posted a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds against Assumption on Feb. 21, her third of the season.
  • Santoro leads Southern Connecticut with 75 offensive rebounds for the year, while totaling 70 on the defensive end.
  • The last Owls player to total 100-or-more rebounds in a year and grab more offensive rebounds than defensive rebounds in the same season was Jackie Bethea (133-104-237) during the 2012-13 season.
  • Delaney Connors averages 8.0 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game.
