Kimberly Moran Breaks SCSU Record in 3000m Steeplechase at Friar Invitational

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Southern Connecticut Women's Outdoor Track & Field standout Kimberly Moran broke the SCSU Record in the 3000m Steeplechase at the Friar Invitational, hosted by Providence College. Her time of 10:41.89 surpassed the previous record of 10:48.29, which was set by Natasha Fitzpatrick in 2017.

Moran continues to set record in her first year as an Owl. Today, she finished fifth in the 3000 steeple, and was the only competitor in the field not from a Division I school. She has now set three records across the Indoor and Outdoor seasons, after setting the program record in the 5000m and the indoor program record in the 3000m earlier this year. Her time today ranks first in the Northeast-10 Conference and ninth in all of Division II.

Jonathan Volpe also competed, running the Mile. He placed seventh in the Mile Run, and was the top finisher among non-Division I competitors. He recorded a time of 4:07.32.

The Owls are back in action tomorrow for Day 2 of the Wilton Wright Invitational.
