SCSU Women's Outdoor Track & Field Records 6 First Place Finishes at Wilton Wright Invitational

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Southern Connecticut State University Women's Outdoor Track & Field placed second at the Wilton Wright Invitational, behind Sacred Heart's 242.5 points. Gillian Penna, Lindsay Drozd, PJ Dauphinais, Megan Whitnell, and Belle Smith all recorded first-place finishes. 

HEPTATHLON
Gillian Penna won the Heptathlon, recording a score of 4111. Ginny Mullen finished in fourth with a score of 3826. 

Mullen placed sixth in the Javelin, throwing 19.34m (63-05). Penna placed ninth with a throw of 17.28m (56-08). In the 800m, Penna placed second with a time of 2:32.46. Mullen was close behind in fourth at 2:44.83. 

TRACK
Lindsay Drozd won the 400m Dash with a season-best time of 1:02.27. Brianna Cole placed third, finishing at 1:02.70. 

PJ Dauphinais won the 10000m, running a time of 39:08.46. Emilie Noreika was next in second at 39:55.93. 

Megan Whitnell won the 5000m with a time of 18:40.75. Sarah Johnson finished 14th with a time of 24:05.94. 

FIELD
Belle Smith won the Discus Throw, throwing a personal-best 42.74m (140-02). That throw ranks 74th in all of Division II. Darla Jagrosse placed 8th, throwing 33.34m (109-04), and Sydney Dolbier placed 12th, throwing 30.58m (100-04). Valerie Torres finished in 13th with a throw of 29.73m (97-06). 

Smith also won the Shot Put, throwing 13.03m (42-09.00). Darla Jagrosse was close behind in fourth with a personal best throw of 12.10m (39-08.50). Kayla Johnson had a season-best throw of 10.61m (34-09.75), good for 11th place. 

Maddie Hathorn placed fourth in the Pole Vault, clearing 3.18m (10-05.25). 

Uliana Pokutnia placed 18th in the Long Jump, jumping 4.78m (15-08.25).

The Owls return back to Storrs for their next competition, UConn's Northeast Challenge on Saturday, April 19th.
