Kisha Francois and Belle Smith Bring Home NE10 Weekly Honors

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Southern Connecticut Women's Track and Field standouts Kisha Francois were named the Northeast-10 Conference Track and Field Athletes of the Week for the final week of the regular season. It is the third time both athletes have received the respective awards this season.

Belle Smith continued her breakout season at the James Barber/Jack Maloney Invitational, setting the SCSU Record in the Discus Throw with a throw of 45.18m (148-02). That broke the previous record of 43.84m that was set in 1987 by Tanya Sutton. She also took home first in the Hammer Throw, throwing 53.17m (174-05). Both throws rank first in the NE10 and top-50 in Division II.

Kisha Francois had a big day competing at Central Connecticut's Blue Devil Invitational. She was a part of the 4x100 relay team that placed first, also placing second in the 200m Dash and sixth in the Long Jump. Her time of 25.19 in the 200m ranks second in the conference, and the Owls' 4x100 time of 46.49 ranks first in the NE10 and 65th nationally.

Francois, Smith, and the Owls will look to defend their 2024 NE10 title this weekend at the 2025 NE10 Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
