U.S. Women's Soccer Player of the Year Alyssa Naeher To Speak At SCSU On Friday, Oct. 24

Southern Connecticut State University women's soccer will host "An Evening with U.S. Women's Soccer Player of the Year Alyssa Naeher" on Friday, Oct. 24, 2025. Naeher, U.S. Soccer's 2024 Female Player of the Year, Stratford (Conn.) native and two-time FIFA Women's World Cup Champion,  will reflect on her decorated international career as goalkeeper for the U.S. Women's National Team during a moderated conversation with sports broadcaster Christine Huber.

SCSU Women's Soccer is celebrating its 30th year of competition in 2025. The season-long celebration features Naeher's appearance serving as a featured event in the program's celebration in addition to its Alumni Day on Sunday, Oct. 26 when the Owls host Franklin Pierce at 1 p.m. at Jess Dow Field. 

The event comes just two days before Naeher is honored for her career achievements at the U.S. vs. Portugal match in East Hartford. Naeher, now playing for Chicago Stars FC in the NWSL, retired from international play in 2024 following a decade-long career that included two FIFA Women's World Cup Championships (2015, 2019), an Olympic gold medal (Paris 2024), an Olympic bronze medal (Tokyo 2020), and being named The Best FIFA Women's Goalkeeper of the Year (2024).
