Ken Sweeten Receives College Sports Communicators' 25-Year Award

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Southern Connecticut State Associate Director of Athletics/Athletic Communications Ken Sweeten was recognized by the College Sports Communicators with the 25-Year Award, as announced by CSC on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026. This award is presented to CSC members who have completed 25 years in athletic communications field and are voted by the CSC Special Awards Committee. All award recipients will be honored through the spring with special individualized content and social media recognitions and then will be honored in person the June CSC UNITE26 in Las Vegas (June 7-10, 2026).

Sweeten has been an influential force in the athletic communications field over the past 29 years of his career. Throughout his career, he has made an lasting impact on those around him. Whether it was improving multimedia offerings, coordinating features with national and local publications, covering teams that feature All-Americans and are nationally ranked, creating student organizations that bring students together to further their careers or redesigning virtual archives and websites; Ken Sweeten has continued to elevate institutions and students to the next level. 

In addition, Sweeten has been an active member of CSC and has served on the Mentorship Committee and COSIDA U Committee. He has been a mentor to more than 30 undergraduate and graduate assistants that have gone on to work for over 50 collegiate and professional sports organizations. Sweeten has generously given his time and advice to those coming up within the athletic communications field, so that they can be ready for the next step in their careers. 

Southern Connecticut proudly recognizes Ken Sweeten and his 25+ years of dedicated service within the athletic communications field.
