SCSU Athletics & Recreation to Dedicate Timothy P. Quill IV Scoreboard On Friday, Oct. 9

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Southern Connecticut State University Athletics & Recreation will formally dedicate the swimming and diving scoreboard at Bruce Hutchinson Natatorium in honor of former Men's and Women's Head Swimming and Diving Coach Timothy P. Quill IV on Friday, October 9, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.

The ceremony will take place at the Bruce Hutchinson Natatorium, Moore Field House, 125 Wintergreen Ave, New Haven, CT, and is open to everyone. The dedication is part of SCSU's Homecoming and Family Weekend events.

The University will dedicate the scoreboard in recognition of Quill's dedication to Southern Connecticut State University and the students he served for nearly three decades.

Quill, who passed away in February 2026 at age 58, led the Owls for 28 years and transformed Southern Swimming & Diving into a national powerhouse. Under his guidance, SCSU captured 34 Northeast-10 Conference Championships and produced 121 NCAA All-America selections. He was voted NE10 Coach of the Year 28 times and coached 13 individual NCAA national champions.

Beyond the accolades, Quill was widely respected for the culture he built — one rooted in discipline, accountability, mentorship, and care for student-athletes as people first.

The scoreboard dedication will honor Quill's historic legacy at "The Hutch" — the home pool where his teams rewrote university and league record books for a generation.
