Molly Kennedy and Tim Quill Win Northeast 10 Post Season Awards

NEW HAVEN, Conn— SCSU Swimming and diving standout Molly Kennedy was named the Northeast 10 Conference Swimmer of the Year and SCSU Swimming and Diving Head Coach was named NE10 Women's Swimming and Diving Coach of the Year as announced by the NE10 on Wednesday, March 25, 2026. This is the first swimmer of the year award of Kennedy's career and Quill's 16th time being named the Women's Swimming and Diving Coach of the Year. Quill has captured the Men's Swimming and Diving Coach of the Year award 14 times. 
 
Kennedy was named the 2026 NE10 Championships Most Outstanding Swimmer of the Meet after winning six out of the seven events she participated in. She won the 50 Freestyle (23.45), 100 Freestyle (50.52), 200 Freestyle (1:51.22), 400 Medley Relay (3:52.17), 800 Yard Freestyle Relay (7:39.40) and the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay (3:30.40). Kennedy secured a silver medal in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay (1:36.44).
 
 In addition to the NE10 championships, Kennedy was selected to compete at the DII NCAA National Championships in the 50, 100 and 200 yard freestyle. Kennedy placed in the top 30 in the nation in the 100 yard freestyle (51.15).
 
 In her three years at Southern Connecticut, Kennedy has won 20 out of the 21 events she has swam in at NE10 Championships. Kennedy was also named to the NE10 Academic All-Conference Team this season.
 
Following his passing on Feb 11, 2026, SCSU Women's Swimming and Diving coach Tim Quill was recognized as the Northeast 10 Conference Coach of the Year. Quill led the team to six straight conference championships and 18 for his career.
 
This season, the Women's swim and dive program went 7-1 in dual meets under Quill's guidance. In those meets, they scored a total of 628.45 points, nearly 40 points better than second place Felician.
 
At the Northeast 10 championships, the team won 20 medals, nine gold, six silver and five bronze. Thirteen different student athletes medaled at the championships. Southern Connecticut scored 957.5 points at the championships besting runner up Bentley by nearly 300 points.
