Osaretin Osagie Named NE10 Sport Excellence Award Winner

Southern Connecticut State University men's track & field All-American Osaretin Osagie was named the 2026 Northeast 10 Conference Outdoor Track & Field Sport Excellence winner, as announced by the NE10 on Friday, June 19.

Osaretin Osagie had another remarkable season for Southern Connecticut, on and off the track. Osagie was named to this second NE10 Academic All-Conference team in the Spring after he earned NE10 Academic Distinction for both the Fall 2025 semester and the Spring 2026 semester. Majoring in User Research and Interface Studies, Osagie boasts a 3.45 grade-point average.

He recorded five gold medals across the NE10 Outdoor Track & Field Championship and the New England Championship. Osagie was named the NE10 Most Outstanding Track Performer for his impressive performance in the 400 meter hurdles, in which he broke the meet record, the SCSU Program Record and ranked in the top 10 of NCAA DII. He qualified for the NCAA DII Outdoor Track & Field Championships, for the third straight season, where he finished 15th in 400 meter hurdles and earned All-America Second Team honors. For his career, Osagie is a five-time NE10 Champion and eight-time medalist while also earning All-America honors in 2025 and 2026.

Among the student-athletes named to the NE10 Academic All-Conference teams, the Sport Excellence Award is given to one individual from each of the league's spring/full-year sports. To be eligible for Sport Excellence honors, a student-athlete must have been named to the All-Conference team in their respective sport, spent at least two consecutive full-time semesters at their institution and have maintained a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30 or better (for both undergraduate and graduate work).

Osagie is the third student-athlete to receive the award this season, joining women's swimming & diving's Molly Kennedy and cross country's Courtney Henchcliffe to receive the award during the 2025-26 season.
