Da’Jhani John serves as an Athletic Communications Assistant specializing in Creative Media at Southern Connecticut State University. Entering his second academic year with the department, John initially joined Southern Athletics as a photographer and videographer before transitioning into his current role, where his responsibilities have expanded to include social media management, content creation, and digital media production.
John works alongside the Athletic Communications staff to produce visual content across various sports, including game-day coverage, promotional videos, athlete features, and social media campaigns. He also oversees social media and creative content for the Southern Connecticut gymnastics program. Outside of his work with Southern Athletics, John operates JD Captures, his independent photography and videography brand, where he has gained additional experience in sports media, event coverage, and visual storytelling.
John graduated from Southern Connecticut State University in May 2025 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, concentrating in Economics. During his undergraduate studies, he earned a 3.81 GPA and received the Outstanding Senior in Business Economics Award in recognition of his academic achievements. Currently in his sixth year at Southern, he is pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in International Business.
Born in the U.S. Virgin Islands, John spent his early years growing up between the Virgin Islands and Antigua and Barbuda before relocating to the Bronx, New York, for several years. He later returned to Antigua to complete his high school education before moving to Connecticut to attend Southern. His diverse upbringing has helped shape his perspective and creative approach to storytelling, which he continues to develop through his passion for athletics and visual media.
