Well-versed in the landscape of Connecticut collegiate basketball, Marc Rybczyk is in his fourth year with the Southern Connecticut State University men’s basketball program and third year as head coach.
Rybczyk joined the Owls after serving as the head coach at the State University of New York – Cobleskill. In his first and only season with the Fighting Tigers, Rybczyk led his team to a double figure win total.
Before his tenure at SUNY Cobleskill, Rybczyk served as the lead assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at the University of New Haven from 2000-05.
During his stay, Rybczyk assisted the Chargers in their run to the 2004 NCAA Tournament, as well as their appearance in the 2003 regional semifinal.
He also coached one regional All-American and two New York Collegiate Athletic Conference players of the year. He was also responsible for bringing the first scholastic Connecticut LL All-State player to UNH.
Prior to his tenure at UNH, Rybczyk served as a volunteer assistant coach at Central Connecticut State University, where he also played as an undergraduate.
As a coach, Rybczyk helped guide the Blue Devils to a 2000 Northeast Conference Tournament championship and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
He also helped to develop the 2000 Northeast Conference Player of the Year and a 2002 NBA draft pick, Corsley Edwards.
As a student-athlete, Rybczyk led the nation in three point field goals. He was a four-year starter and held the school’s three-point shooting record (single-season and career) for 12 years at CCSU.
Rybcyzk’s 11 three-pointers in a game against Long Island University remain a Blue Devils’ single-game record.
He is currently third on the all-time three-point field goal list with 235 trifectas.
Rybczyk then played professionally for the Adidas All-Star touring team from 1995-98 and the Converse All-Stars, both out of Syracuse, N.Y., as well as the Springfield Slamm of Springfield, Mass., from 1998-2000.
Currently the assistant director of the Connecticut Basketball School in Oakdale, Conn. He also serves as a camp coach for the Eastern Invitational Basketball Camp in Neptune, N.J., where he works with the top college coaches and players in the country at what is considered to be one of the premier recruiting camps.
