Brian Quinn returned to his alma mater as an assistant men's soccer coach in 2016 after 16 seasons as head coach at the University of Bridgeport. He posted a record of 152-114-22 during that stretch and led the Purple Knights to both the NCAA Tournament and multiple ECAC Championships. He's in his third year of his present stint as an assistant coach with the Owls in 2018.
Quinn was a member of the NCAA Division II soccer committee and chairman of the Northeast Regional Committee from 2001-2005, and he served as national Division II men's soccer chair in 2004. Â
Prior to UB, Quinn spent 12 seasons as the assistant coach at two highly successful programs. He served as an assistant at Southern Connecticut State University from 1987-1995 working under coaching legends Bob Dikranian and current UConn head coach Ray Reid. During that time, he was a part of three national championship teams at Southern Connecticut (1987, 1990, 1992). From 1995-2000, Quinn was an assistant coach at Boston University (BU) under Neil Roberts. The BU team qualified for three NCAA Tournaments during his tenure (1995-1997).Â
From 1990-1993, Quinn also served as the Director of Boys Olympic Development Program with the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association and Administrator of Football at the 1995 Special Olympics World Games in New Haven, CT.Â
Quinn holds a USSF "A" License and the NSCAA Premier Diploma. He is also a member of National Soccer Coaches Association of America, the United States Coaches Association and the KNVB Advanced Coaching Seminar. He currently is Director of Coaching for the BSC CT Soccer Academy (formally South Central Premier). Quinn personally coaches the U-16 Boys team which is participating in US Soccer's newly-formed Development Academy.
A 1986 graduate of Southern Connecticut State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education, he received his Master's Degree in Physical Education from his alma mater in 1994. Quinn, who ran the 1999 & 2000 Boston Marathons, resides in Meriden, Conn, with his wife Lisa and their two children, Aidan and Aislinn. Â Â Â
