David Hansen

David Hansen enters his ffifth season as an assistant coach with the Southern Connecticut State University men’s soccer program in 2010. In this role, Hansen fills a variety of duties for the Owls. He handles training of all of the team’s goalkeepers, in addition to recruiting, on-field instruction, scouting, monitoring of NCAA compliance, and additional administrative responsibilities. 

Over the course of the past four seasons, Hansen has coached three All-Americans, 10 All-New England selections and 24 All-Conference picks. 

Included in those totals was goalkeeper Brendan Lawless, who earned All-Conference laurels in each of the past two seasons under the tutelage of Hansen. Lawless posted 11 shutouts and a sparkling 0.62 goals against average in 2006. 

Hansen joined the Owls in 2006 after serving on the staff at Big East member St. John’s University. He served as assistant and goalkeeper coach for the Red Storm. 

Prior to his stint at St. John’s, Hansen coached his high school alma mater, St. John the Baptist High School, to second in the national rankings. He also coached four All-America players and three current Division I goalkeepers. 

Hansen earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Dowling College in 2005. 

A former member of the Brooklyn Italians semi-pro team, he is the owner and director of the David Hansen Goalkeeper School and has trained several U.S. National, Region One, and ENY State team players. 

As a collegiate standout, Hansen was an All-Region perfomer at Suffolk County Community College. As a scholastic standout, he was a team captain on the St. John the Baptist club that won the high school national championship. 

Hansen also has additional coaching experience with the South Central Premier Academy team and with the Monroe (Conn.) youth program. 

A native of Selden, N.Y., Hansen currently resides in West Haven, Conn.
