George Kostelis

George Kostelis is in his first season as assistant men's soccer coach at Southern Connecticut State after five seasons as head men's soccer coach at Western Connecticut State University.

Prior to five stint as head coach at WCSU, Kostelis spent 10 seasons as an assistant coach and goalkeepers' coach at Yale University. During his tenure at Yale, he helped guide the Bulldogs to an Ivy League title and a berth in the NCAA College Cup.

He was also an assistant coach for the University of Connecticut women's soccer program (1997-2000), as the Huskies twice reached the NCAA Elite Eight, and were also NCAA Finalists. He also held an assistant coaching position at his alma mater, the University of Hartford (1995).

He holds a United States Soccer Federation A License, a NSCAA Premier Diploma and a United States Soccer Federation National Youth Coaching License.

The West Hartford native enjoyed a decorated collegiate playing career at University of Hartford before earning a degree in Human Services in 1993. He was inducted in the Hawks' Alumni Hall of Fame in 2007.

He was a three-time All-North Atlantic Conference goalkeeper for the Hawks. He earned All-New England honors in 1992 and is second in school history in career goals against average (1.05), fourth in shutouts (17.4) and fourth in minutes played (6,216). He helped lead the Hawks to their first two Division I NCAA Tournament appearances in 1991 and 1992.
