Bonilla joined the Owls' coaching staff as an assistant coach before the 2024-25 season, after playing for Southern Connecticut in 2023-24 as a graduate student.
Bonilla was apart of the 2023-24 team that had an overall record of 19-13 and made an impressive run in the NE10 Tournament as they advanced all the way to the NE10 Championship, for the first time since 2012. The guard played in 29 games for the Owls, led the team with 44 made three-pointers and had a total of 183 points during the season. Bonilla received NE10 Academic Distinction in Fall 2023.
Bonilla is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Social Work at Southern Connecticut.
