Southern Connecticut State University Athletics

Chris LeGates is an assistant men's soccer coach at Southern Connecticut State.

LeGates graduated from the University of Hartford in 1992 with a bachelor's degree in history. He was a four-year player at Hartford, winning the America East championship and advancing to the Sweet 16 in 1991 and earning the Alumni Award that year.

He was associate head coach at Quinnipiac University from 1992-97, head coach at the University of Saint Joseph from 1997-2015 and assistant coach at Southern Connecticut from 2015 to present. He was named Great Northeast Athletic Conference Coach of the Year five times, a conference record, and won NE10 regular season and tournament titles in 1994 and tournament title in 1996 with a 162-117-21 career record. He also won the GNAC regular season title in 2012.

At Southern, he is involved in all facets of the program with an emphasis on goalkeeper training and defensive tactics.

LeGates lives in Springfield, Massachusetts, with his wife, Jill, son Jack, daughter Gabriella and dog Savannah. His family founded the North Haven Soccer Club in 1972.
