Roland Joseph '95 enters his fifth season as an assistant coach with the SCSU Women's Soccer program after joining Head Coach Adam Cohen's staff in 2020. Joseph was a standout for Southern Connecticut from 1992 through 1994, helping the Owls to the 1992 NCAA Division II National Championship.Â
In addition to helping the Owls to the 1992 title, Joseph also guided the Owls to the 1993 championship game before Southern finished as runner-ups. He also captured a national championship in 1991 while competing for Mercer County Community College before transferring to Southern Connecticut. Joseph earned All-New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) honors, as well as All-New England and was also named a New England Intercollegiate Soccer League All-Star. Joseph went on to play professionally for the Connecticut Wolves and the Boston Storm of the United Staters Inter-Regional Soccer League (USISL). He was also a member of the 1990 Trinidad & Tobago National Team.Â
Following his playing career, Joseph coached the Hillhouse (Conn.) High School boy's team from 1994 through 1996 before taking over at Weston (Conn.) High School before coaching in boy's soccer in Woodbridge (Conn.) from 1999 through 2002. Joseph also coached youth soccer extensively over the last 20 years and was named South Central (Conn.) Premier's Director of Coaching in 2019. Joseph has served as the boy's premier, pre-academy and academy coach since 1994 and the girl's U19 coach since 2002.Â
