Erin Koukopoulos joined Southern Connecticut State University Athletics & Recration as an Assistant Athletic Trainer in Aug. 2025. Koukopoulos brings a wealth of experience in athletic training to the university's athletic department.
In her role, Koukopoulos will assist with athletic injury evaluations, treatments, and rehabilitation, as well as team preparation, practice, and game coverage. Koukopoulos will work directly with the men’s and women’s soccer teams, women’s basketball and baseball.
Prior to joining SCSU, Koukopoulos served as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Cheshire Academy and Athletic Trainer at Select Physical Therapy. She has also gained experience working with professional sports teams, including the Danbury Hat Tricks Hockey Organization and, most recently, the Chatham Angels of the historic Cape Cod league as well as the Danbury Westerners Baseball Organization, and interned with the New York Football Giants.
Koukopoulos earned a Master of Science in Exercise Science with a concentration in Sports Psychology from Southern Connecticut State University in May 2024 and a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Central Connecticut State University in May 2022. She holds various certifications, including Licensed Athletic Trainer with the CT Department of Public Health, BOC Certification, American Red Cross CPR for Professional Rescuer & AED Instructor Certification, and National Registry Certified Emergency Medical Technician.
