Southern Connecticut State University Director of Athletics Jay Moran announced the hiring of David Hashemi as Strength and Conditioning Coach in the summer of 2015. He enters his fourth year in this role during the 2018-19 academic year.
A Southern Connecticut graduate, Hashemi previously served as an assistant football coach with the Owls before shifting into his new role.
Hashemi is directly involved with the programming, scheduling and training for all 19 Owls' programs. He also works with the Owls' athletic training staff to implement rehabilitation programs for injured student-athletes and evaluates and measures the performance of all student-athletes. Hashemi also oversees activity in the weight room and was a leading figure in the remodeling of that venue.
A National Strength and Conditioning Association member, Hashemi joined the Owls from Yale University, where he spent 2013-14 as an offensive, recruiting and special teams intern coach. He has also served as the Assistant Director of the Yale Football Team Camp.
Hashemi was a member of the football coaching staff at St. Joseph's (Conn.) High and helped the squad win back-to-back state championships. Hashemi also served as an assistant basketball coach at St. Joseph's, a program that also claimed consecutive state titles.Â
His additional basketball experience includes time as a head coach for the Connecticut Elite AAU program. His additional industry experience includes time at the Fordham Football Tom Massella System Football camp and as a strength and conditioning coach at the "Can Do" Sports Academy and with the Sacred Heart University hockey strength and conditioning program.
