NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team gave a local 12-year old youngster named Javier a taste of life as a collegiate student-athlete recently as part of the 'Wednesday Child' segment. This initiative runs in conjunction with the Connecticut Department of Children and Families. Each week, a youngster is profiled on WTNH-TV, Channel 8, as part of the program.

Javier joined the Owls at a practice prior to their season opener. He participated in drills with the team and was presented with a SCSU shirt from head coach Meghan Brown.
