NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior forward Ktrice McNeill (Bronx, N.Y.) netted a game-high 15 points and junior forward
Preston Bell (Brooklyn, N.Y.) hauled in a game- and career-high 13 rebounds to propel the Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team past the Massachusetts-Lowell River Hawks by a score of 61-43 on Tuesday night from Moore Fieldhouse.
The 43 points allowed by the Southern Connecticut defense matched the second lowest total allowed by a Northeast-10 Conference team this season, and was the lowest total allowed by an Owls team since the 2001 season, when they held the River Hawks to 41 points.
Joining McNeill in double figures was junior guard
Terron Jones (Bridgeport, Conn.), who picked up a career-high 13 points. Bell added nine points to his 13 boards. McNeill also just missed a double-double, hauling in nine rebounds on the evening. Senior forward Devon Sullivan (Jamaica, N.Y.) netted eight points and pulled down six rebounds, including the 500th of his career. Sophomore center

Justin Gardenhire (Rosedale, N.Y.) each added six points. Freshman guard

Derrick Corbett (New Haven, Conn.) each tacked on two points to round out the Owls' scoring.
Michael Gore and Max Kerman each netted eight points to lead the Massachusetts-Lowell offense. As a team, the River Hawks shot 33.3% from the floor and an anemic 1-for-16 (6.3%) from behind the arc.
McNeill and Sullivan, the Owls' two seniors, were honored before the game.
The Owls return to action on Saturday, Feb. 23 when they travel to Albany, N.Y. to challenge the College of Saint Rose. The action tips off from Nolan Gymnasium at 3:30 p.m.
