SCSU Men's Basketball Falls to Adelphi, 75-66

Box Score GARDEN CITY, N.Y. - Southern Connecticut men's basketball came up short against Adelphi, losing 75-66. The Owls drop to 10-13 on the season. 

Cherif Diarra scored 16 points, grabbing eight rebounds and blocking two shots. Kazell Stewart got the start and added 16 points of his own, going 2-4 from three and grabbing six rebounds. Christian McClease scored 15 on an efficient 5-7 from the field, also going 2-4 from deep. 



The Owls came out to a scorching hot start, knocking down four of their first five threes and jumping out to a 25-10 lead. Malik Banks knocked down two deep three-pointers early, with Justice Ellison, Christian McClease, and Cherif Diarra all involved early. Southern's defense was impressive, holding the Panthers to single digits until the 11:57 mark. Adelphi would stay in the game, however, cutting the lead to six before halftime. 

Adelphi maintained momentum entering the second half, going on a 8-3 run to cut the lead to one and tying the game with just under 15 minutes to go. The Panthers would take the lead with 12:29. Southern's offense cooled off after their hot start, but key baskets from Diarra, McClease, and Stewart kept the game tight. Randy Crosby provided some energy with five points off the bench, but the Panthers maintained their advantage until the buzzer sounded. 

The Owls are back at home this Saturday, February 21st when they take on Franklin Pierce for Senior Day.
