Women’s Swimming Concludes Competition At The Sonny Werblin Invitational

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Southern Connecticut State University women's swimming and diving team was led by freshman Amanda Thomas (Oakville, Conn.) on day two of the Sonny Werblin Invitational on Saturday afternoon. She captured third place in the 100-yard backstroke event with a time of 1:01.34.

Sophomore #Jennifer O`Neil# (Stratford, Conn.) collected the first top-10 finish for the Owls. She completed the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:31.16 for ninth place in the event. Thomas closely followed O'Neil, as she finished the heat in 2:33.12.

Seniors Cody Hall (Parker, Colo.) and Emily Sundel (West Hartford, Conn.) led the way in the 1650-yard freestyle event. Hall captured sixth place with a time of 17:59.27 and Sundel swam the event in 18:39.70, good enough for 13th place.

In the afternoon session, O'Neil and Hall took 11th (4:51.20) and 13th (4:52.02) in the 400-yard IM event. Thomas wrapped up the competition with a sixth place finish in the 200-yard freestyle (2:01.63) and a third place finish in the 100-yard backstroke (1:01.34).

The Owls return to action on Oct. 31 with an away meet against the College of Saint Rose. The meet kicks off at 1 p.m.
