NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Sophomore setter Kimberly Lachowicz (Mansfield, Texas) dished out 32 assists as the Southern Connecticut State University volleyball team defeated Mercy College, 3-2 (25-13, 25-16, 25-20), Monday night at Pelz Gym.

The Owls took the first two sets convincingly, 25-13 and 25-16, before pulling away from a closely contested third set to secure a 25-20 win, and a 3-0 win in the match.

Senior setter Broghan Miller (West Hartford, Conn.) and junior outside hitter Megan Hiss (Trinidad, Colo.) each recorded 10 kills, while junior outside hitter Megan Lyons (Cold Spring, N.Y.) had nine kills of her own in the winning effort.

Kassy Phillips had 12 assists for Mercy College.

The Owls return to action when they host Stonehill College on Friday at 7 p.m.
