NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut Volleyball Head Coach Lisa Barbaro has announced the captains for the 2025 season. Senior Sydney Bennett and junior Madi Roar were both named captains for the Owls' upcoming season.
 
Sydney Bennett, heads into her fourth season as a Right Side Hitter for the Owls. In 2024, Bennett was one of the team leaders in blocks with 44, recorded 110 kills, 33 block assists and 26 digs. Additionally, she recorded a career-best of 13 kills and three digs in a win against Assumption. Off the court, Bennett earned 2024-25 CSC Academic All-District Women's Volleyball honors and is a five-time NE10 Academic Distinction recipient.
 
Madi Roar, heads into her second season as a Setter for the Owls. In 2024, Roar led the Owls with a total of 427 assists, while she was one of the team leaders with 106 digs and 16 service aces. She recorded a career-best of 29 assists and three service aces against Dominican (NY). Off the court, Roar earned 2024-25 CSC Academic All-District Women's Volleyball Honors and is a two-time NE10 Academic Distinction and Academic Excellence recipient.
 
The Owls will be opening the 2025 season in a Tri-Match in Pelz Gym on Saturday, Sep. 6 at 11:00 am against Saint Thomas Aquinas and against Jefferson at 3:00 p.m.
