NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Jade Black (Hudson, Ohio) of the Southern Connecticut State University volleyball team had a game-high 20 digs as the Owls lost in four sets to conference opponent Assumption, 3-1, in Pelz Gymnasium.

Sarah Beres (Ellington, Conn.) led the offense with 12 kills, two solo blocks and two block assists. Olivia Lathrop (Farmington, Conn.) contributed seven kills off a 0.333-hitting percentage and three block assists on the night. Kimberly Lachowicz (Mansfield, Texas) tallied 32 assists with three block assists, while Syriah Celestine (Greenlawn, N.Y.) had six kills with three block assists.

The Owls dropped the first set 25-23 after finding themselves ahead 23-19. Southern rallied in the second set to a 25-23 victory, but the Greyhounds would not be denied closing out the final two sets by a score of 25-20 and 25-17.

The Owls are now 14-3 on the season and 2-1 in conference with their next match being a home conference bout against Stonehill at 1 p.m.
