Swimming and Diving Results
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Senior
Amanda Thomas (Oakville, Conn.) finished with three first-place marks for the Southern Connecticut State University women's swimming and diving team as they were defeated by Marist, 166-123, in a dual meet on Saturday afternoon.
Thomas finished first in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 59.51, the 400 yard IM in 4:32.19 and was a part of the first-place 200 yard freestyle relay team, which included
Christina Lavery (West Haven, Conn.),
Hannah Olson (Torrington, Conn.) and
Meghan Fay (Branford, Conn.).
Lavery also took home a third-place finish in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:40.65 and a fourth-place mark in the 200 yard freestyle. Olson took a second-place mark in the 400 IM right behind teammate Thomas, finishing the event in 4:49.62. Fay had a strong outing as well, taking second in the 200 yard freestyle in 2:01.69 and third in the 100 yard freestyle in 57.88.
Junior
Elizabeth Hess (Iowa City, Iowa) and
Anna Pleban (Seymour, Conn.) were the other two Owls to take home first-place marks. Hess finished first in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:10.14 and Pleban was first in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 1:03.11. Pleban also had a second-place mark in the 50 yard freestyle, which she finished in 25.42.
Additionally, senior
Nicole Caron (Marlboro, Mass.) finished with a second-place mark in the 100 yard freestyle and
Kristen Schmid (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) took a third-place mark in the 1650 yard butterfly.
In diving,
Ashley Thomas (Oakville, Conn.) had an impressive day with a fourth-place finish in the three-meter dive event and second in the one-meter dive event.
The Owls will be back in action tomorrow against Connecticut College at 1 p.m.
