View Complete ResultsNEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University women's swimming and diving team lost to Marist College 169-120 in their meet on Saturday afternoon.
Katherine Crochet (Waterbury, Conn.),
Sydney Fromkin (Sharon, Mass.),
Aubrey Bailey (El Cajon, Calif.) and
Emma Buckridge (Bozrah, Conn.) all ended the day with first place finishes in individual events.
Crochet finished first in both the 50 and 100 yard freestyle events with times of 24.66 and 53.71, respectively.
Katherine Krajcik (Stratford, Conn.) finished fifth in both of those events with times of 25.78 and 56.40, respectively.
Fromkin finished first in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:25.41.
Jennifer Belanger (South Windsor, Conn.) and
Lilly Martin (Bristol, Conn.) finished second and third in the 500 yard free at 5:25.89 and 5:28.67, respectively. Fromkin also finished fourth in the 200 yard freestyle at 2:01.16.
Bailey finished first in the 100 yard butterfly at 1:00.08. Martin also finished in second in this event at 1:04.02 and
Christina Lavery (West Haven, Conn.) came in third at 1:04.59. In addition to the win, Bailey finished second in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:12.86 and third in the 200 yard backstroke at 2:14.50. The Owls had swimmers finish sixth and seventh in both those races.
Miranda Gursky (Watertown, Conn.) finished sixth in the 200 yard butterfly at 2:30.79 and Belanger finished seventh at 2:33.08. In the 200 yard backstroke,
Georgienna Driver (West Haven, Conn.) finished in sixth at 2:34.31 and
Katelyn Ray (Oxford, Conn.) placed seventh at 2:39.38.
Buckridge's win came in the 400 yard IM as she finished with a time of 4:50.64.
Emily Wolfe (Havertown, Pa) and
Kayla Laydon (North Haven, Conn.) finished in second and third place with times of 4:52.76 and 5:04.81, respectively.
The Owls also picked up a relay win in the 200 yard freestyle relay. The team of Crochet, Krajcik, Martin and Wolfe finished in first place with a time of 1:41.21. Driver, Belanger, Gursky and
Kerstin Eckner (Oxford, Conn.) came in second at 1:52.05. In the 200 yard medley relay, Bailey, Spagnolo, Wolfe and Krajcik finished in second place with a time of 1:53.07.
In the 100 yard breaststroke, Martin came in third at 1:11.40 and Lavery finished in fifth at 1:14.59. Laydon added a third place finish in the 1650 yard freestyle at 18:29.79.
In the diving portion,
Isabel Williams (Woodbury, Conn.) finished in third in the one meter dive with a score of 228.23 while
Haley Boland (Waterbury, Conn.) came in sixth with 198.08 points. In the three meter dive, Boland finished in fourth with a score of 235.88 and Williams finished in sixth with 167.10 points.
Southern Connecticut's next meet is on Wednesday at Connecticut College.
