NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University Athletic Department hosted its annual 'Girls and Women in Sport' Day on Saturday, as presented by the Connecticut Army National Guard and the Tim Greer Insurance Agency. Nearly 150 youngsters took part in the festivities, which started with a series of clinics with Owls' coaches and approximately 150 student-athletes. The participants also enjoyed a complimentary lunch and a meet-and-greet and autograph session with SCSU student-athletes.

This event is just one example of many community outreach events that SCSU student-athletes take part in on an annual basis. SCSU student-athletes volunteered more than 4,000 hours of their time to numerous outreach efforts, both on-campus and in Greater New Haven, during the 2014-15 academic year.
