NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University Athletic Department hosted its annual 'Girls and Women in Sport' Day on Saturday. Nearly 150 youngsters took part in the festivities, which started with a series of clinics with Owls' coaches and approximately 150 student-athletes. The participants also enjoyed a complimentary lunch and a meet-and-greet and autograph session with SCSU student-athletes. This year's event was supported by Chick-fil-A of North Haven.

This event is just one example of many community outreach events that SCSU student-athletes take part in on an annual basis. SCSU student-athletes volunteered nearly 2,000 hours of their time to numerous outreach efforts, both on-campus and in Greater New Haven, during the 2015-16 academic year.
