HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Young put the Owls on the board early in the game off a feed from sophomore Jessica Maier (Enfield, Conn.) on a corner. Maier inserted the ball to Young who ripped a shot from the top of the circle to make it 1-0 5:35 into the game.
  • The Pioneers counterattacked four minutes later to tie the game at one apiece. They went on to score two more goals and took a 3-1 lead over SCSU heading into halftime.
  • LIU added four second half goals to seal the victory in Brookville. Junior Brianna Craft (Hamden, Conn.) made the start and nine saves for the Owls, while Kelli McCombs (Bristow, Va.) made five saves in relief.
