BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – A balanced attack led by
Jessica Fressle (Levittown, N.Y.) pushed the Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team over Post University in their season opener, 74-64, at Harvey Hubbell Gymnasium in Bridgeport this afternoon.

- With 14 rebounds in today's win, Kiana Steinauer (Oakville, Ontario) has hit surpassed 500 career rebounds (513 in total), while also collecting her first double-double of the season.
- Imani Wheeler (Dumfries, Va.) topped a career-best in steals with 9. Her previous career-best (8) came on November 19th, 2016 against the District of Columbia.
- With a 22-point performance this afternoon, Fressle broke her career-high in points. Her previous career-high (19) came against Bridgeport on November 12th, 2017.
FIRST HALF
- The Owls erupted in the first quarter outscoring the Eagles 22-14 as Amanda Pfohl (Trumbull, Conn.) opened the season with a three-pointer that got SCSU grooving early, while Steinauer led the defensive charge with two steals in the opening three minutes.
- SCSU continued the surge in the second quarter, where they outscored the Eagles again 17-16. With six minutes remaining in the quarter, the Owls held their largest lead thus far being 17 points ahead of the Eagles.
SECOND HALF
- Post fought their way back going on a 10-3 run in the beginning of the third quarter to cut the Owls lead to ten.
- A strong fourth quarter from Post where they scored 22 points was not enough for the Eagles, as the Owls offense took control and held largest lead of the game (19 point-lead) with 8:12 remaining in the game.
- A balanced offensive and strong defensive effort from the Owls led them to their season opening victory at Hubbell Gym.
