Owls Surge Past Concordia, 96-76

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball squad defeated Concordia (N.Y), 97-76 at Moore Field House for its fifth straight win. The Owls advance to 7-5 overall, while the Clippers drop to 4-7 overall.
 
Isaiah McLeod (Cambridge, Mass.) led the offensive charge for the Owls with a double-double of 26 points and 10 rebounds. Ulyen Coleman added 24 points and shot 57% from the field and 5-of-10 from beyond the arc, while C.J. Seaforth (Hamden, Conn.) collected 15 points. Kealen Ives dished out seven assists and picked up eight points and a steal for the Owls.
 
FIRST HALF
• The Clippers came out on a 6-2 run to start off the first half.
• Concordia controlled the game as they led by eight points with 7:23 left to play in the first half. The Owls counterattacked with a 10-0 run over a three-minute span to capture the lead from the Clippers. Southern went into halftime up 46-42 over Concordia.
 
SECOND HALF
• The Owls started the second half on an 11-3 run increasing their lead to 14-points, 59-45. 
• Southern dominated the rest of the second frame extending their lead to as many as 24-points, 85-61. Shooting 53.1% from the floor in the second half and 40% from beyond the arc to seal the 97-76 win.
 
 NOTABLE FACTS
• With his 26-point night against the Clippers, McLeod now stands at 1,385 on the Owls all-time points and trails Trevon Hamlet '13 for 13th place with 1,396.
• Coleman has been red hot over the last three games shooting 59.5% (25-of-42) on the floor and 60% (15-of-25) from three-point range.

• This is the Owls fifth straight win. The last time the Owls won five straight games was from Jan. 20, 2018 to Feb. 6, 2018 in which they won six straight games.
• The team shot 50.7% from the floor, while shooting 88.2% from the charity stripe.
• Southern hasn't scored over 90 points in a game since their first regular season game against Post where they scored 102.
 
 UP NEXT
The Owls will go on a holiday hiatus but return to action on December 30 at home against Queens College. The game is slated for 3:30 p.m. at Moore Field House.
