NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer squad claimed a 2-1 win over Bentley University this afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Southern opened the scoring in the 30th minute as freshman
Daniel Utgaard (Kristiansand, Norway) scored the first goal of his collegiate career of a corner taken by sophomore
Ignasi Perez Cererols (Barcelona, Spain).
-The Falcons responded five minutes later with a goal of their own to tie the game at one apiece.
- With time running out in the game, neither team broke the deadlock until the 88th minute where the Falcons conceded an own goal giving the Owls a 2-1 advantage with two minutes left in the game.
- Despite the Owls narrow win, Southern out shot the Falcons 11 to 9, with Southern having six shots on net to Bentley's two.
UP NEXT: The Owls head to North Easton, Mass. to play Stonehill on Sept. 19.
