Owls Fall To SNHU

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team dropped a 79-59 decision to Southern New Hampshire at the Stan Spirou Field House. The Owls drop to 10-6 overall and 4-4 in the NE10, while the Penmen improve to 10-6 overall and 4-5 in the NE10.
 
Kiana Steinauer (Oakville, Ontario) notched her 13th double-double with 20 points and 18 rebounds. Imani Wheeler (Dumfries, Va.) collected 18 points, five rebounds and four assists, while Amanda Pfohl (Trumbull, Conn.) tallied 12 points.
 
1st QUARTER (SNHU 22, SCSU 19)
• It was a tight scoring first quarter as the Penmen narrowly outscored the Owls 22-19.
• The lead changed eight times in the first frame.
 
2nd QUARTER (SNHU 31, SCSU 28)
• The second quarter saw both teams' offense quiet down as the Penmen went 4-for-20, while the Owls shot 4-for-16.
 
3rd QUARTER (SNHU 56, SCSU 35)
• Southern New Hampshire's offense heightened in the third quarter as they outscore Southern Connecticut 25-7.
They finished the quarter with a 21-point lead.
 
4th QUARTER (SNHU 79, SCSU 59)
• Despite the Owls outscoring the Penmen in the final frame 24-23, Southern New Hampshire's strong 25-point third quarter was the difference maker as they captured the victory in Manchester.
• Wheeler collected 12 of her eventual 18 points in the fourth quarter.

• Southern fell to SNHU, 79-59 on Jan. 12.
Kiana Steinauer collected her conference-leading 13th double-double of the year with 20 points and 18 rebounds. She has collected double-digit boards in all 16 of the Owls games this season and at least 15 rebounds in 9-of-16 games.
• With her 12 points, 
Amanda Pfohl has recorded double-digit points in 14 of the Owls 16 games this season.
• For the seventh-straight game, the Owls had three-or-more players score in double-digits: Steinauer (18), Wheeler (18) and Pfohl (12).
