Women's Basketball Falls To Nationally-Ranked No. 20 Bentley

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball squad dropped a 69-56 decision to No. 20 nationally-ranked Bentley at Moore Field House. The Owls drop to 12-8 overall and 6-6 in the NE10, while the Falcons improve to 18-2 overall and 12-1 in the NE10.
 
Imani Wheeler (Dumfries, Va.) tallied 12 points and team-high six assists, while Allie Smith (Danbury, Conn.) had 12 points and shot 66% from beyond the arc. Amanda Pfohl (Trumbull, Conn.) collected 12 points shooting 44 percent from three-point territory (4-for-9). Kiana Steinauer (Oakville, Ontario) notched 10 boards, including her 800th career rebound, while Aaliyah Walker (Toronto, Ontario) collected 10 points for the Owls.
 
1st Quarter (SCSU 18, BEN 17)
• The Owls got off to a hot start on a 10-2 run in the first quarter. The Owls outscoring the Falcons, 18-17.
•  Walker collected four rebounds, while Wheeler and Pfohl notched six of their eventual 12 points in this frame.
 
2nd Quarter (BEN 38, SCSU 32)
• Bentley heightened their offense in the second quarter as they outscored Southern 21-14.
 
3rd Quarter (BEN 51, SCSU 38)
• It was a low-scoring third quarter as Falcons scored just 13 points compared to the Owls six points.
 
4th Quarter (BEN 69, SCSU 56)
•  Despite the Southern scoring as many points as Bentley in the final quarter, the Falcons third quarter push proved to be the difference-maker as they took a 69-56 decision at Moore Field House.

FACTS
• With 10 boards on the day,
Kiana Steinauer surpassed 800 career rebounds. Only Jackie Beathea '16 (1,216) and Tammy Kiernan '96 (816) have reached 800 career rebounds for SCSU. Her 800 rebounds make her the 13th NCAA Division II player with 800 career rebounds. She is also one of four active players in NCAA DII basketball averaging 10-or-more rebounds per game.

Amanda Pfohl notched 12 points on 4-for-9 shooting from beyond the arc, which has her collecting double-digit points in 18 of the Owls 20 games this season.
• For the 11th-straight game, the Owls had three-or-more players score in double-digit figures: Wheeler (12), Pfohl (12), Smith (12) and Walker (10).
