Men's Basketball Dealt Loss At Le Moyne

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team lost a Northeast 10 Conference matchup at Le Moyne, 97-70. With the loss, the Owls drop to 4-4 overall and 1-1 in the NE10 while Le Moyne improves to 6-4 overall and 4-0 in conference play.

Taurus Adams II (Milwaukee, Wisc.) totaled 18 points and six rebounds while Lyron Bennett (Boston, Mass.) came off the bench to contribute 17 points and eight boards. C.J. Seaforth (Hamden, Conn.) chipped in with 11 points while Khalil Richard (Baltimore, Md.) had 10 points off the bench.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Southern and Le Moyne traded hoops over the game's first three minutes before Le Moyne sped away on a 15-2 run to take a 21-8 lead with 12 minutes to play in the first half.
  • Southern then outscored the Dolphins, 12-6, over the next six minutes to pull within six points at 26-20 with seven to play.
  • Le Moyne went on another run to take a 47-29 lead into the half.
  • Southern, playing without starters Greg Jones and Isaiah Boissard, also saw Seaforth land in foul trouble. With three of its top five scorers out, the Owls struggled to get back into the game as Le Moyne pushed its lead into the 20's.

NOTES
  • Adams II led the Owls in scoring for the second-straight game and also signaled the first time that the Owls' big man had back-to-back games with 18-or-more points.
  • Of Adams II's six rebounds, four came on the offensive end. He now has 10 offensive rebounds in his last two games.
  • Zack Penn (New Hartford, Conn.) saw a career-high 36 minutes of action and totaled eight points while leading the Owls with nine rebounds, while also registering two assists.
  • Bennett came off the bench for the first time in his collegiate career, yet logged 35 minutes. The first-year Owl dropped in 17 points against the Dolphins, and is now averaging 16.3 points over his last three games.
  • Bennett, the Owls' point guard, also collected eight rebounds, giving him back-to-back games with eight or more. Bennett collected 10 against New Haven.
  • In foul trouble for most of the game, Seaforth saw his fewest minutes of the season, yet still shot 5-of-8 from the floor for 11 points. He also collected four rebounds, two assists and two blocks.
  • Richard reached double digits for the second-straight game and also for the fifth time in his last six games.

UP NEXT
The Owls' road tour continues when they head to Albany, N.Y. on Tuesday, Dec. 10 to take on College of Saint Rose in a Northeast 10 Conference matchup set for 7:30 p.m. The Owls return home for their final game of the first semester when they host University of the Sciences on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 3:30 p.m.
