Owls Fall to Adelphi 81-75

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – The Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team fell to Adelphi University, 81-75 at the Center for Recreation and Sports. The Owls drop to 16-11 overall and 11-8 in the Northeast 10, while the Panthers improve to 19-8 overall and 13-8 in the NE10.
 
C.J. Seaforth (Hamden, Conn.) led the Owls in points with 30, shooting 11-for-14 from the field and knocking down five three-pointers. Joey Wallace (Rochester, N.Y.) recorded his first double-double of the season with 11 points and a team-high 10 rebounds.
Kealen Ives (Providence, R.I.) tallied 23 points, shooting 5-for-9 from beyond the arc, while adding three rebounds and two assists.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Owls came out hot outscoring the host 9-2 in the first two minutes of the game. However, the Panthers rallied back to tie the game at 16 all.
  • Adelphi ended the first half on a 6-0 run to tie the game at 32-32.
  • C.J. Seaforth led the offense for the Owls, scoring 13 points while shooting 5-for-5 from the field and hitting three from beyond the arc in the first half.
  • The Panthers carrier their momentum into the second half with an 11-5 run in the first four minutes of play.
  • The Owls countered with a 12-2 run and took a 56-50 lead at the 10:42 mark.
  • Adelphi went on an 11-0 to claim a 72-68 lead. The Owls were unable to gain enough momentum for a comeback leading to a Panthers win.
 
FACTS
  • Seaforth recorded his second 30-point game of the season. The last time he scored 30-or-more was on Jan. 15th, 2019 against Saint Anselm where he scored 32.
  • Wallace recorded his first double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 rebounds. The last time he registered a double-double was on Jan. 28, 2017 against Bentley where he had 13 points and 10 rebounds.
  • Seaforth led the offense, hitting six three-pointers, while Ives hit five on the night. The last time two Owls hit five-or-more three-pointers was on Jan. 15, 2019 against Saint Anselm where both Seaforth and Ives hit six each.
 
UP NEXT
The Owls will host Pace University on Saturday, Feb. 23 at 3:30 p.m. at James Moore Field House and will honor its four-member senior class before the game.
