Field Hockey Falls to AIC, 4-0

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team dropped a 4-0 contest to American International College at Jess Dow Field. The Owls drop to 0-3 overall, while the Yellow Jackets improve to 4-0 on the season.

Brianna Craft (Hamden, Conn.) made six saves in the loss, while Chloe Knight (New Milford, Conn.) had two shots for Southern Connecticut.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Southern and AIC played to a scoreless tie through the first period, and into the second before Wynona Shaw broke through eight minutes into the second frame. The Owls held off two Yellow Jackets' charges down the stretch before halftime.
  • Coming out of the half, Lily Watson took a pass from Georgia Barnes in front of the Owls' cage and popped it home to double AIC's lead, 2-0.
  • Early in the fourth, Sophia Schulpen converted on a shot to give AIC a 3-0 lead before Barnes scored on a shot from her knees to make it 4-0.

The Owls will travel to No. 8 Stonehill on Saturday, Sept. 14 for a noontime matchup with the Skyhawks in North Easton, MA.
