SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team dropped an overtime thriller to American International College, 3-2. The Owls drop to 0-6 overall and 0-2 in the Northeast 10, while the Yellow Jackets improve to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in the NE10.
Despite suffering an overtime loss, it was a game of first for the Owls as sophomore
Alyssa Haskins (Enfield, Conn.) collected the first goal of her collegiate career, freshman
Abigail Kellerman (Fairfield, Conn.) made the first defensive save of her collegiate career and junior
Chloe Knight (New Milford, Conn.) collected her first goal of the season. Senior
Brianna Craft (Hamden, Conn.) was remarkable in goal through 62 minutes of play, making 10 stops between the pipes.

How It Happened
- Knight struck for Southern Connecticut in the 10th minute of the first quarter putting away her second goal of the season off a penalty corner.
- Just over two minutes later, Haskins scored her first career and put the Owls up 2-0 heading into the second quarter of play.
- Southern Connecticut remained on top until the third frame when the Yellow Jackets scored off a rebound. Four minutes later, AIC tied the game at two off a penalty corner.
- After a hard fought fourth quarter, the two teams squared off in their first overtime game of the season.
- A green card was issued to the Owls two minutes into the overtime, forcing freshman Janelle Ward (Kitchener, Ontario) to enter the game. Just under two minutes later, after a solid save from Ward, the Yellow Jackets struck off the rebound to seal their 3-2 overtime victory.
