How It Happened
  • Southern collected the first points of the game as Amani Boston (Dorcester, Mass.) drained a three-pointer. Assumption countered with a 12-3 run over the next three minutes to jump in the lead. The Hounds eventually finished the first ten minutes of play up by 15.
  • The Owls climbed their way back in the second quarter with a 14-1 run allowing them to tie the game at 27 with 3:11 remaining in the quarter. The Hounds went into halftime with a three-point lead.
  • In the third quarter, both squads opened up by trading baskets until Assumption's offense heated back up and they outscored Southern 12-6 in the remaining third of the quarter. They led by nine points heading into the final quarter.
  • Assumption's offense remained steady in the final ten minutes of play as the Hounds went on a 20-10 run, while shooting 8-for-10 from the field. Their 25-point first quarter proved to be enough to lock in a 16-point victory on the road.

Notes
  • Imani Wheeler tallied a career-high 26 points against Assumption. Her previous career-high was on Dec. 30, 2018 against Dominican when she had 23 points. • Wheeler has recorded double-digit points in eight-straight games and has snagged three or more steals in six of her last seven games played.
